HVAC & Chiller Technician Jobs in Data Centers (2026 Guide)

There are 34 open HVAC and mechanical roles on this board right now, and the cooling side of data centers is growing fast.

Every watt a server uses turns into heat, and AI hardware runs hotter than anything before it. Keeping data halls inside tight temperature limits around the clock is a mechanical job, so data centers need HVAC and refrigeration techs who understand big central plants, not just rooftop units.

What the job looks like

Most days are rounds, readings and preventive maintenance: checking pressures and temperatures, water treatment, filter changes, belt and bearing checks, and responding to alarms. Any work on live cooling equipment follows a written plan (MOP), because losing cooling can shut down a data hall in minutes. Shifts are often 12 hours on a rotating schedule, with overtime and night pay.
